I bought a multiple-day pass for the vaporetto, and most days I just rode the entire route, which ends at Lido Beach. That was enough sightseeing for me!

Sounds like a great way to really see the city. When you follow the same path more than once you see so much more. Your mind is freed from navigation and can focus on details.
