Awards for Conflict Mitigation and Reconciliation Programs

The US Agency for International Development’s Office of U.S. Conflict Management and Mitigation invites both U.S. and non-U.S. NGOs (non-governmental organizations), IOs (International Organizations), faith-based organizations and community organizations to apply for these Awards, which start at $100,000. There is no cost sharing or matching requirement.

The purpose of the Award is to support conflict mitigation and reconciliation programs and activities that bring together individuals of different ethnic, religious or political backgrounds from areas of civil conflict and violence in the following countries:

Africa: Angola, Burundi, Chad, Cote d’Ivoire, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ghana* (*restricted to Northern Ghana), Guinea, Kenya, Mali** (**restricted to Northern Mali: Regions of Timbuktu, Gao, and Kidal), Mauritania, Níger, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sudan*** (***restricted to: Blue Nile State, Southern Kordofan and Abyei), Uganda

Asia and Near East: Bangladesh, East Timor, Morocco, Philippines, Sri Lanka, Thailand, West Bank/Gaza Europe

Eurasia: Bosnia, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Russian Federation, Tajikistan

Latin America and the Caribbean: Colombia, Ecuador, Guatemala, Nicaragua

A program performance period of up to twenty-four (24) months is anticipated for each award.

The first of three submission dates (by electronic submission) is Monday, Feb. 18, 2008, at midnight.
