Self learns something new every day! She’d never heard the term ‘bokeh’ before. According to Nancy Merrill, host of A Photo a Week Challenge:
bokeh is the visual quality of the out-of-focus areas of a photographic image, especially as rendered by a particular lens. In other words, it’s the quality of the intentionally blurry part of your image, or the background.
For this challenge, self thinks this photo fits the bill. She took it in Carmel Mission, last July. She didn’t notice the woman about to walk in front of her until she had taken the picture. The woman appears in the picture, but she is blurred. Is this bokeh?
What a great theme for this week’s Photo a Week Challenge: Vanishing Point! Thank you to host Nancy Merrill!
Self loves looking back at her travel photos, and looking for Vanishing Points was fun.
The last time she was in Ireland and England was Fall 2019. She happened to arrive in Dublin on the day of the Dublin Marathon. The route was right in front of her B & B, so she was able to catch a few stragglers:

She visited IMMA (Irish Museum of Modern Art) and walked from there to Dublin Castle, through a gorgeous tree-lined avenue.

From Dublin she flew to Manchester to stay with an old classmate from the Philippines. She introduced self to Liverpool!
Self is fascinated by gates and fences. All kinds of gates and fences.
For this week’s Photo a Week Challenge, she went browsing through her archives and selected three: two from a friend’s garden in Menlo Park, one from the Gamble Garden Center in Palo Alto:
Self didn’t realize how long it’s been since she joined Nancy Merrill’s Photo a Week Challenge! She’s glad she can correct the situation today. The theme: HORIZONTAL LINES.
Today’s challenge is from Nancy Merrill: A Photo a Week.
This week’s challenge is Circles on Circles.
Here’s a standing lamp in her living room.
Here’s the roof of the Academy of Sciences in Golden Gate Park. The gorgeous building was by Renzo Piano. Self took this picture from the Rainforest. She remembers there were so many butterflies (not one of which was captured by her camera, boo).
