Self’s photo is a #blastfromthepast
She was in an East London Airbnb last year — a truly wonderful apartment, across from Haggerston Park. Next door was a liquor store where men with studs in their faces and green hair would come and go. One morning, one of the patrons was retching on the street.
She thought the liquor store proprietor was Russian, but the woman at the vintage clothing store on Hackney Road corrected her: he was Georgian, not Russian. He also owned the Georgian restaurant down the street.
The apartment had one of these contraptions that doubled as a washer and dryer. Since self was not too sure how to operate the dryer, she’d hang her freshly laundered clothes on this folding drying rack.
