July #TreeSquare Challenge # 13: Carmel Mission

The Carmel Mission, which self hasn’t seen in over 20 years, has the most amazing garden. Mostly succulents, but in such an array of colors! She took pictures of the trees just for the life of B’s #TreeSquare Challenge this month.

The Carmel Mission was founded by Father Junipero Serra, a Franciscan, in 1771 (It’s called a “basilica” now). The little museum next to the mission has an exhibit on California missions. So many, the vast majority, were founded in 1771! The missions stretched from San Diego to San Francisco Bay: all in all, Father Junipero Serra founded eighteen missions.
