BLUE Again: Sylvain Landry – Week 47 Challenge

This is the first time self has ever posted twice to a Sylvain Landry weekly prompt.

YAY! Things must be looking up!

The theme this week is BLUE.

Self stayed in brother-in-law’s apartment in New York. She ordered out for food and spent a lot of time looking out the windows. Her nephew, Chris, was in and out. It was nice to know she was not alone.

One night, from one of brother-in-law’s living room windows, self peeked out and saw a sliver of moon. She thought: That might make a nice picture.

Stay tuned, dear blog readers. Stay tuned.

Pure 2: New York and London

  • “I love finding beauty in the mundane, and purity in the midst of our chaotic, over-connected world.”

New York looks peaceful in the early morning light.

The venerable British Museum opened up its interior with classically simple lines.

Stay tuned, dear blog readers. Stay tuned.

Girlhood in Elena Ferrante Time

I could sit on the terrace and read with the sea in front of me, or walk along a steep white road toward a long, wide, dark beach that was called Spiaggia dei Maronti.

In the beginning, after all the fears that my mother had inoculated me with and with all the troubles I had with my body, I spent the time on the terrace, dressed, writing a letter to Lila every day, each one filled with questions, clever remarks, lively descriptions of the island.

My Brilliant Friend, by Elena Ferrante, translated from the Italian by Ann Goldstein

Pure: Daily Post Photo Challenge, 10 June 2016

The sky is clear, the air is clean, and a small girl plucks dandelions from a field to make a tiny bouquet. The purity of the afternoon is absolute: from the crystalline blue of the sky, down to the cottony, sunlit curls upon the child’s head. Nothing exists outside of this overgrown meadow, where wildlife thrives, and red thistle and dandelions flourish.

— Jen H., The Daily Post (Theme: PURE)

Below, three examples of what self considers PURE.

She’s currently in New York City, where all of these pictures were taken.
