WOMEN: Sylvain LandryW-36 Challenge

The Sylvain Landry Week 36 Photo Challenge is WOMEN.

In New York last fall, self met a member of her on-line writing group, who teaches memoir writing in a New Jersey college.

She invited self to a reading of her students (Title of the event: “Jersey Girls”) taking place in Sidewalk Café, Avenue A, the East Village.

Here are pictures of two of the readers (Self knows the first one is VERY blurred. That’s what happens when you don’t use flash in low-light conditions. She likes the picture anyway)

And here are some of their words:

About a girlfriend: “Vic surrounded me. I lived in her atmosphere.”

About a boyfriend:  “I had a Polish boyfriend whose golden hair was more beautiful than mine; people referred to us as The Lesbian Couple.”

About a conversation:  “I’m proud of you, my little sissy.”

About Bayonne, New Jersey: “If you go to Bayonne, it’s because you live there, or know someone who does. It’s all dollar stores, banks, and pizzerias.”

Thank you again to Sylvain Landry, whose prompts continue to inspire!

Stay tuned.
