Sylvain Landry Week 33 Photo Challenge: STAIRS

Another very interesting theme this week from Sylvain Landry: STAIRS.

Self has taken many pictures of stairs. But she passed over quite a few of them and selected this one, from a trip she took to New York in March 2015.

This particular subway stop (53rd and Lexington) has sentimental value for self. For one year, when she was 22, she worked in New York City. Her office was at the very top floor of the Citicorp Building (the Wedge). Every day she took the No. 7 train from Flushing and switched at Grand Central to go to 53rd and Lexington. And walked up this very same set of stairs.

Some Additions to the Reading List

Self might as well call 2016 the Year of the Classics because she’s adding more books to her reading list and these are they:

The Death of Ivan Ilyich, by Leo Tolstoy

Heart of Darkness, by Joseph Conrad

The Odyssey, by Homer (not sure yet which translation to read)

perhaps some Pliny the Elder and Ralph Waldo Emerson.

Stay tuned, dear blog readers. Stay tuned.
