More Everlark (About Vampire Peeta and About Self’s)

Katniss wakes up in a darkened room. When her eyes finally adjust to the darkness, she sees Vampire Peeta sitting in a corner, reading an iPad and smoking.

Katniss and Vampire Peeta have breakfast. Since he’s already snacked on Katniss’s blood the night before, he really isn’t hungry, but Katniss makes him try oatmeal. For the first time! Vampire Peeta can’t help pulling a face. (This scene is so adorbs!)

In the meanwhile, in the penultimate chapter of self’s fan fiction —

Snow shows up in 13.

Peeta is reading something by a writer from 12.

Snow approaches him, whereupon they converse:

“What are you reading?” Snow asks.

“Nothing,” Peeta says. “What are you doing here?”

Peeta can’t keep the tone of annoyance from his voice.

Snow says, “Strange. They didn’t tell you I was coming? I’m here for the Tribunal.”

Where Self Left It

Her story is getting more and more hits.

She stopped writing it almost a year ago.

For a while it lay moribund. Then, when she dropped the first chapter of her new Everlark AU (Cheating Peeta, LOL), people started asking: What about the other one?

That’s the thing with self: it is very, very hard for her to finish anything, whether it’s a book she enjoys, a meal she is eating, or a multi-chapter fan fic, like the one with Capitol Peeta. She’d brought it up to 44 chapters before breaking off.

What surprises her most is that, here in New York, she’s been adding to it, slowly but surely. With Star Wars opening and Sting performing and museums! Have you gone nuts, self? Because that’s the only reason that could explain you.

And she doesn’t even have a Beta.

But here goes:

Peeta’s stretched out on a deck chair, beside an empty pool. They bring him a newspaper. He reads about the fall of the Capitol to the rebels from 13. There’s a picture of a woman with a long fall of grey hair. Underneath her picture, it says The President. In the article, she is quoted as saying, “Much as it saddens me, there will be no pardon.” A note falls out when he turns the page. HAPPY NEW YEAR! the note says. It isn’t signed.

Stay tuned, dear blog readers. Stay tuned.
