Eye Spy 4: Masskara Festival, Bacolod, Negros Occidental, Philippines

Every October, Dearest Dad’s hometown of Bacolod becomes the scene of wild bacchanalia.

Just kidding!

Seriously, the theme of the month is wine, women and song.

Just kidding!

The culmination of the annual festivities is a procession of masked dancers. Quite a sight!

Self heard that the festivities have been toned down and aren’t as flamboyant as they used to be. Oh, that is just too bad.

In the meantime, she thought the giant masks, with their flirty eyes, would fit in very well with the week’s Photo Challenge: EYE SPY.

One of the staff at self’s favorite Bacolod rest place: L’Fisher Chalet on Lacson Street: They hang the giant masks as part of the annual Masskara Festival, in October.

You should see the parade! I have pictures of that. Maybe later, when I have more time, I can post some.

Thank you! For a small city in the Philippines, Bacolod has many great festivals.
