New 2 for the New Year

This week’s WordPress Photo Challenge is NEW.  NEW as in:

Possibility. Opportunity. Potential.

With that in mind, self selected three pictures from her archives that seem to embody the spirit of the New Year.

(1)  Bruce Lee Postcard: New Year Resolution: TEACH ME TO BE FEARLESS.

Self has this taped over her desk at home.

(2)  T-Shirt Slogans with Attitude (Key to Positive Mental Attitude is Wearing a T-shirt with the right slogan. For example: POP THE CHAMPAGNE). As Effie Trinket herself might say: Chins up! Eyes front! Attitude!

(3) Sign on the Venice Beach Boardwalk:  One of self’s New Year resolutions is to spend as much time near a body of water as possible:

The Most Evil President Snow (Ever)

Self is crushing, simply crushing, this fan fiction, let her tell ya. She’s on Chapter 17, but this morning she decided to circle back to the very beginning to see if she could catch any contradictions (because when she started writing this thing, two months ago, she counted herself lucky to finish even one chapter, much less 17!)

Chapter Two: Hunger Games Fan Fiction AU:

(President Snow’s point of view)

There is a fable handed down from the Dark Days: A wasp enters a King’s palace. The wasp stings the King, over and over. And not all the King’s soldiers and not all the King’s men can put the King back together again.

Will Peeta be the wasp that stings Snow?

Snow’s system is perfect, replete in itself. It can admit no disturbances. No provocateurs.

He must act, and act with impunity.

“Ah, Mr. Mellark,” Snow says, smiling into the darkness, “Your games are about to become very interesting.”

Stay tuned, dear blog readers. Stay tuned.

Self’s Depiction of President Coriolanus Snow

Self wrote Chapter 1 of her first fan fiction in mid-November.

And now, 17 chapters later . . .  wow wow wow wow!

Her President Snow is the né plus ultra of evil.

Here’s how she wrote him, in Chapter 1:

Peeta meets Snow for the first time at the conclusion of his Victory Tour, when he’s ushered in for a private audience. Snow is seated behind a massive desk. He looks up when Peeta enters. He smiles without opening his mouth.

Peeta notices the color of Snow’s eyes: they are the palest grey Peeta has ever seen. Snow says little, but it’s enough. Peeta now knows who is the master and how he must behave. “There is only one rule, Mr. Mellark, but I shall enforce its observance with the utmost rigor: To disregard it would result in consequences nothing short of catastrophic, not only towards yourself but also to your friends and families. DO AS I SAY.”

Stay tuned, dear blog readers.  Stay tuned.
