Ojai: Cowboy Chic

Somewhere on the drive here, self encountered two metal horses, painted bright red, on the side of the road.

She is here in Ojai for the first time.

This was where R-Patz hid out for a while when he and K-Stew blew up, two years ago.

Nicky L (Squaw Workshop 6-er) says there’s gonna be a full moon tonight, watch out for weirdos.

The girl just makes me laugh.

No weirdos here.

Self’s room has a huge jacuzzi in it.

The bed is raised on a platform of logs.

The light are nestled in ceramic urns.

The ceiling is high and angled steeply.

The floor is cool flagstones.

The wi-fi is blistering, it’s so fast.

The units on either side are occupied by impossibly thin women in palazzo pants and tank tops, wearing enormous Jackie-O shades. They ducked their heads “Hello” at self and then disappeared back into their units.

Not even a whisper of voices outside.

It’s the opening day of the Ojai Film Festival.  There are movies from Germany, Australia, Spain, the United Kingdom, Russia, New Zealand, Canada, and of course the United States.

Self would dearly love to just nest in her room, losing herself in her Murakami novel, but the movie offerings are tempting.

Stay tuned, dear blog readers.  Stay tuned.

J Lo, PEOPLE Magazine, 10 November 2014

Self reads People Magazine whenever she gets on a plane.

So, since she flew to LA several days ago, she of course has the current issue, the one with Katie Holmes on the cover.

Self hasn’t yet reached the Holmes article, but she’s just finished reading the one about J Lo, who has a new book out. The book includes details about her divorce from Marc Anthony.

Here’s an excerpt from the People article:

Part of loving yourself is about forgiving yourself — which is something I’ve always struggled with.  Being ambitious, being a perfectionist, means I’ve spent my life beating myself up for not being good enough, or for screwing something up. It took a long time, but I finally figured out that I wouldn’t have half the instincts or insights I’ve had as an artist over the years if not for those screw-ups.

Stay tuned, dear blog readers.  Stay tuned.
