Author Photos, and Other Matters of Great Importance

Self received a message from Anvil Press of the Philippines, who published her third collection in 2009 (Don’t worry; you’ve never heard of it):  They owe her royalties of 3,000 pesos (about $73)

Whoopie!!!  Her first set of Anvil royalties!  She feels so, so validated!!!

She also heard, via La Hagedorn, that Anvil is putting out a Philippine edition of Manila Noir, just out from Akashic Books.  There are so many fab fellow authors in this book, self is just fainting.  She brought one of her author copies with her to Claremont and showed it to son.  Since she knows he is very busy, she didn’t actually leave a copy with him, but it was enough that he glanced through the TOC.  The Manila book launch is first week of July (She’d like to say July 2 —  can’t verify at the moment, please google if you are in the vicinity of Manila in the first week of July)

Her author photo is pretty stupid.  She wishes she could have it back.  And switch it with any of the following:

Since Manila Noir is, you know, noir —  (Duh!) they probably wouldn’t ever have used the second photo, as self looks like she’s just been presented with a luscious gigantic Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup.  But never mind, self likes that photo, for standing next to her (though cropped out of the picture) is one of her barkada mates from Assumption Convent, Connie Ignacio.

BTW:  There is no Game of Thrones tonight, dear blog readers.  Instead, HBO is showing a bio-pic of Liberace, directed by Steven Soderbergh.  The title is “Beyond the Candelabra.”  Self must admit, she thinks it is a hoot that they got Michael Douglas to play Liberace (After all, they could have gotten Al Pacino, but that wouldn’t have been half as much fun) and Matt Damon to play his blonde lover.  So, GOT Episode 9 will be aired on June 2 instead.  Oh, the anticipation!

Stay tuned, dear blog readers.  Stay tuned.
