First Monday of March (2013): HAPPY With Miz Kathleen and Rosie

The sun was shining.  Oh, it was a beautiful day.  Self hasn’t watered her garden for almost a week, though.

Self spent the afternoon with the lovely Miz Kathleen and her daughter, Rosie.  We wandered through various pinoy eateries, all in Union City.  Fun, fun, fun.

Self discovered that there is a Lhuillier Pawnshop right inside the Island Pacific supermarket in Union City (corner of Fremont and Dyer).  They do wire transfers to a number of banks in the Philippines for a small fee.  If self could only have found out sooner!  In late January, she had to pay Anvil for 10 copies of The Lost Language that they shipped to Bacolod; self was still there, but no one informed her the books had arrived, so she left without them.  The bill:  5950 pesos, or $146.  That’s almost $15 per book.  To wire the money to Anvil’s Bank of PI account, she had to pay $35 to her bank here.  Then, Bank of PI took out an additional amount for the wire, so she still ended up owing Anvil 800 pesos.  Let’s just get this straight:  Self is not going to send another wire to Anvil for 800 pesos, especially not after learning that she will have to pay her bank $35 AGAIN.  Self might rightfully be described as stupid; she most definitely is not insane.

Self placed a call to Daku Balay and spoke to one of the secretaries (Not, of course, The Estimable Ida).  Of course no one would dream of paying Anvil the 800 pesos (about $20) on her behalf.  That’s such a huuuge amount!  What was self thinking?  Does she think GENEN, her family’s corporation, exists solely so that she can borrow sums like that?  What bloody cheek!

Total of everything self spent for 10 author copies:  almost $200.  And not one book is in her possession.  Niiiice.
