The Colonel

The Colonel (also known as "J.P.") in front of The Golden Temple in Amritsar

One of the most memorable characters self met in India was The Colonel.  He and his wife were so extremely kind to self, making her trip to Dharamsala possible (by lending her their driver), feeding her so well (three full meals a day, not counting morning and afternoon tea), and taking her to Amritsar and to the Buddhist monasteries around Bir.

The Colonel grows his own tea!  It is called “Colonel’s Special Chai” and can be ordered by e-mailing him at:

Here he is proudly displaying a bag of his product:

And here’s the website for The Colonel’s Resort (the best food — self got fat there!):

Stay tuned, dear blog readers.  Stay tuned.
