Thoughts on Watching “Justified” Episode # 12 (“Fathers and Sons”)

It just occurred to self that if she ever happened to visit Kentucky, and asked to be directed to the U.S. Marshal’s Office, and then found someone looking like Timothy Olyphant who introduced himself as a Deputy U.S.  Marshal, self would just fall over.

Thank goodness Winona was not too much in this particular episode.  Every time she came on-screen, self found herself yelling, “Bitch!”  Naturally, hubby watched all of Winona’s scenes with the most rapt and focused attention.

There is something about the way all the characters in this show (supposedly set in Kentucky)  say:  “Bullshit.”  In fact, it comes out sounding like “Bull-sheeeet!”  It is just so convincing.  The best “Bullshit” accent belongs to the actor who plays Raylan’s dad.

Walton Goggins aka Boyd Crowder, what can self say about Walton Goggins?  He’s like a mad court jester, like a Shakespearean fool.  His performance in front of a Christian congregation, prancing around in skinny, pencil-cut jeans, was pure dramatic gold (Why were three women in the front row of the church wearing the identical shade of red sweaters? Was this some kind of covert Republican product placement? BWAH HA HA!).

Raylan does not lose his hat, but this episode has something almost just as good:  In this episode, Ava once again handles a gun.  Finally!  Self was getting so tired of her in “damsel in distress” mode.  And there is something about Joelle Carter’s performance that screams, “I’m better with a gun!  Will someone puh-lease get me a gun?”

The actor who plays Raylan’s dad just keeps getting better and better.

It looks like they dropped Erica Tazel aka Rachel (but not Jacob Pitt aka Sniper-From-Afghanistan, thank God)

Stay tuned, dear blog readers.  Stay tuned.
