Panels You May Be Interested in at AWP, Denver

First of all, please do stop by the Calyx and Writer’s Center tables. PUH-LEAZE! Self and other fab writers will be signing books on Thursday afternoon (for Calyx) and Friday afternoon (for the Writer’s Center) at the Bookfair (NOTE TO AWP VIRGINS: You will need a map. You may need a stiff drink. You will definitely need a trench coat. From self’s past experience, the Bookfair is enormous and you will be so constantly distracted by the enticing table displays that you will never ever get to your destination unless you have blinkers on. Also, there are two kinds of people you will bump into at the Bookfair: the literary magazine editor or publisher, and the hungry writer. Woe to the person who attempts to insert himself/herself between these two, you might as well try and face down a herd of rampaging rhinoceros, as Tom Wisdom did in “300”)

Here are a couple of friends’ panels:

* Eric Goodman and Brian Roley from Miami University (Ohio) are on a panel with the very intriguing title, “Writing History, Writing Race.” Thursday, 8 May, 10:30 am, Rm. 403-404, Colorado Convention Center

* Luisa Igloria, reading with Patrick Burns, Alison Hawthorne Deming, Suzanne Frischkorn, Andrew Gottlieb, Suzanne Roberts, and others in a reading called “Wild Lives, Raucous Pens: Readings from Terrain.org and Hawk & Handsaw”
Thursday, 8 April, 7:30 pm, Tivoli Rooms, University of Denver

* Luisa Igloria, Dan Tobin, Cathryn Hankla and others: “Poets as Legislators: Bearing Visions in Private and in Public”
12 noon – 1:15 pm, Friday, 9 April, Rooms 403-404, CCC
