Biggest Travesty of the Evening

On The People’s Choice Awards, in the category for Best Breakout Actor, Taylor Lautner/aka “New Moon Wolf Boy” beat out:

  • Joseph Gordon-Levitt (“500 Days of Summer”)
  • Chris Pine (“Star Trek”)
  • Zachary Quinto (“Star Trek”)
  • Sam Worthington (“Terminator 2”)

Best moments of the evening (thus far):

  • Preview of “Robin Hood” (looking like “Gladiator” in a Forest. Wait, maybe that is the same forest as in the opening scenes of “Gladiator”! There are those same trees, that same moody blue light!)
  • Preview of “Clash of the Titans” (Self’s favorite moment of the preview is when Liam Neeson proclaims, “Release the Kraken!” And the Kraken looks so great, with two rows of extremely sharp, razor-like teeth)

Queen La’s mock “Twilight” conversation with Robert Pattinson in a forest was pretty funny, as well.

Best-dressed women (in self’s humble opinion):

  • Jessica Alba (cute short dress!)
  • Sandra Bullock (great flesh-colored gown!)
  • Diane Kruger (grrreat hair and make-up!  Also, fabulous French!  Dear Diane can apparently speak it like a native)

There was also a strange category called “Best Web Artist” and list included apparently every movie/pop star who twitters.  And the list included:

  • Puff Daddy
  • Will Ferrell
  • Ashton Kutcher
  • Hannah Montana
  • Andy Samberg

And the winner was that master of eloquence, Ashton Kutcher.

The People’s Choice Awards is followed by the local news, and among other fascinating stories (such as the one about the injured sea lion who aroused intense pity from tourists on Pier 39) is an item on a study which seems to indicate that cell phone use can prevent, even reverse the effects of Alzheimer’s —  in mice.  So were the mice holding the cell phones, self wonders?  Or how does that happen?

Finally, self thinks that Roberta Gonzalez is easily the hands-down winner of the “Best-Dressed Weather Woman” Award.  Today, she was wearing a short black dress and shiny black pumps, and her legs looked amazing.

Stay tuned, dear blog readers, stay tuned.
