Io9’s “Top Ten Sci Fi Disappointments of the Past Decade”

Self will enumerate io9’s choices, followed by some of her usual off-the-cuff commentary!

1. Battlestar Galactica’s final episode

    No, No. And no.

2. “The Dark Knight Strikes Again” (in which Io9’s Charlie Jane Anders claims that Frank Miller reveals himself to be no Read the rest of this entry »

Alphabet Post # 1

Self knows this post is terribly ambiguous. But, bear with self, dear blog readers. There is a method to this madness.

C is for carrot cake. Self wanted to buy this tomorrow.

D is for Dean Martin. And dinner tonight: 1/2 of a tuna sandwich from Gracie’s Delectables in San Carlos.

E is for Elizabeth Smart. Who is as smart as her name. Who was interviewed for a TV show self happened to stumble upon this evening. Who was able to endure unspeakable abuse by, in part, writing in a journal in French, which her captors did not understand.

G is for Dickens’ Great Expectations, which is great, great, great. Self is now at the exact halfway point of the book. On almost every page, there is a passage self thinks is “quotable.”

L is for “Lassie,” the TV show. Also, for lunch (which self shared with a former Sacred Heart mom)

N is for “New Moon,” which self saw today (though she didn’t get to watch all the way to the end)

S is for the salad self made for dinner: mixed greens, croutons, shaves of Parmesan cheese, cracked pepper, tomatoes, and a dressing self made from balsamic vinegar and olive oil.

This is about all self can think up right now, dear blog readers. Stay tuned.

“New Moon”/ Redwood City Traffic Cams

Self’s just saying, as in her current frame of mind she feels so sorry for visiting out-of-towners who might get socked with Read the rest of this entry »
