Jason Reitman Names His “Five Favorite Movies,” Courtesy of Rotten Tomatoes

Self loves Rotten Tomatoes.  Browsing that site and Chowhound are two of her most reliable stress-relievers. She could lose herself in them for hours.  Hours.  (And she’s been turning to them quite a bit this holiday season — Ha ha haaa!)

The latest director to participate in Rotten Tomatoes’ “Five Favorite Movies” of all time feature is Jason Reitman. Self thinks his choices are way more interesting than the choices of the previous director they interviewed, Roland Emmerich.

Here’s his list of favorite movies:

  • “Election” (with Reese Witherspoon: self is sorry to say she was not an early fan of Reese, so she missed all of her early movies, and this was one of them. But she’ll order from Netflix!)
  • “Dr. Strangelove” (YEEES, YEEES, YEEESSS!!!)
  • “Harold and Maude” (It’s really strange but, just after the “Star Trek” re-boot came out, and Zach Quinto was giving interviews right and left, some reporter asked him on a meet-and-greet line to name his favorite movie, and he actually said “Harold and Maude”!)
  • “Alien”/ “Aliens” (Self heartily agrees with “Alien.” As for “Aliens,” alas — there simply is no comparison)
  • “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” (OK, this one was really funny. It wouldn’t make self’s Five Favorites list, but still … )

This weekend, she doesn’t know whether she’ll see “Brothers” (except she can’t stand listening to Natalie Portman; if self could just look at her face and not hear her voice, everything would be just fine); the new Robert de Niro movie (“Everybody’s Fine,” and especially Sam Rockwell);  “Ninja Assassin” (Self adores, simply adores ninja action movies!) or “New Moon.”

Stay tuned, dear blog readers, stay tuned.

Amazing – really fantastic matter. I’m going to write about it likewise.
