Self hasn’t even packed.  She’s besieged by indecisiveness:  should she check in her small bag, or should she just go handcarry, thereby ensuring that she has a half-way decent shot at arriving in downtown Chicago before rush hour kicks in?

And how much cash should she bring with her?  Can she really get by without buying (that many) books?  Remember packing in Manila, not too long ago?  She came within a hair’s breadth of being overweight, for both suitcases.  Because they were filled with books.  Fe, who was helping self pack, was amazed that self only brought three pants and a few T-shirts —  for almost a month’s stay.  Ah, but that’s because self knew she could avail of Dearest Mum’s vast stores of clothing.  Whereas, in Chicago, it is freezing.  And she needs to make sure she has enough sweaters/tights/jackets etc etc.

There’s a 25-lb. bag of dog food in the trunk of her car that she bought from Trader Joe’s on the way home from her tutoring stint at the Writing Center, that she hasn’t had a chance yet to unload.  There’s a package that needs to be mailed out tomorrow, but she missed the post office.

She hasn’t even had five minutes to sit on the couch and read her book, which to self means she has truly reached the nadir.

No, that isn’t the nadir.  The nadir is that she still has Christmas decorations on top of her bookcases.  (!!@@##)

But, at least, she is able to post.  That’s what truly counts, isn’t it?  Self knows this is not her most scintillating effort, dear blog readers, but, hey, let’s not look a gift horse in the mouth.

Stay tuned.
