Late Lunch with Dearest Mum

After spending the morning in Belmont, self drove to Foster City, to the home of a friend of one of her sister-in-laws, the one married to the other twin, and picked up some handbags that sister-in-law had asked self to deliver to a spa in San Carlos. Then, self drove to Daly City and had lunch with Dearest Mum, who is staying in the home of one of self’s uncles.

It was the first time self had seen Dearest Mum since she returned from her various travels, and self had barely said “hello” when Dearest Mum was already insisting that she disrobe and try on two huge shopping bags full of clothes.

“Where did you get these?” self asked Dearest Mum.

“From New York!” Dearest Mum said. She stayed at a hotel near Times Square, and would you believe, not too far away, there happened to be a Carlyle store. And Dearest Mum was able to buy about twenty blouses, 10 jeans, and assorted sweaters.

“How did you lug all this stuff?” self practically shouts. “Did you have a shopping cart?”
