Since No One Read Last Night’s Post

Self is replacing last night’s post, as she admits it was rather lame and she was short of inspiration when she wrote it. Besides, this morning, self has chanced upon so many things that are much more fun to blog about, such as wee snippet in last month’s Vanity Fair (the one with all those Hollywood starlets on the cover), the section where VF asks celebrities what they are currently reading.

This month the celebrities are Talk-Show Hosts. And here are their answers:

Conan O’Brien (Self heard somewhere that this man was practically a genius!):

Conan says: “I’m enjoying this book because it confirms just about everything I have learned after 20 years of working in television: humans have bad brains, and nobody — especially anyone in a position of authority — knows what the hell they are talking about.”

Jay Leno: William F. Milliken’s Equations of Motion: Adventure, Risk, and Innovation

Jay says: “Bill Milliken is an engineer, and he wrote the book at age 95. He was practically there when Lindbergh took off.”

Martha Stewart: Per Petterson’s novel, Out Stealing Horses

Martha describes it as “a fabulous novel that I can’t put down . . . The book is beautifully written, different, heartbreaking, and evocative.”

Self thinks the above are pretty esoteric choices! She is simply amazed that the above-mentioned talk-show hosts have any time to read! Next month, VF should focus on bimbos like Paris Hilton. Self would dearly love to know what is inside Ms. Hilton’s brain. Perhaps Dostoevsky’s Crime and Punishment?
