Moments: End of Summer 2007

It is hot (Well, it was hot in Virginia, too, but there one had air-conditioning).

The annual sale at Wegman’s started today and will continue for 10 more days.

A sign on the side of a bus informed self that California was in the middle of a drought.

Son has moved back into Muir Hall. We will not be visiting him this weekend. Instead, hubby will park himself in front of big-screen HDTV to catch all the college football games (As of this very moment, Notre Dame losing — big — to Georgia Tech)

Niece G is in Manila.

First meal of the Labor Day weekend: Breakers Café on Woodside Road. Self decided to try asking for “coddled” eggs, which she overheard fellow Fellows requesting during breakfast at VCCA. Alas, reaction from waitress was a blank stare. After a few moments, she did venture, “You mean poached eggs?” Yes, that’s right. Self meant to ask for poached eggs.

San Carlos Farmers Market will end in two more weeks. Which means no more Roli-Roti chicken, no more yummy home-made peach and apple pies.

Self is buying (multi-colored) index cards for her classes.

The Bay Bridge will be closed until Tuesday.

Arsonists set fire to the Burning Man four days early. Self read in the SF Chronicle that the heat at the Festival was so intense that people were passing out.

Gas (regular unleaded) at the Redwood City Chevron on Woodside Road was $2.94/ gallon (as of 4:38 PM yesterday afternoon)

Self got a card from Sam : She had a lovely baby girl, Tai, in June.

Stay tuned, dear blog reader, stay tuned.
