I hope some people will show. I hope some people will show. I hope some people will show.

One thing good about having my own blog is that now I don’t need to send out multiple e-mails to people when I have an upcoming reading. Of course, if potential audience doesn’t read my blog, they never know about my reading. Is this what’s called a “Catch-22”?

I’ll be happy if five people show up. No, two! Even just two.

My first reading for this collection was March of 2005, in BORDERS at Stonestown Galleria. There I sat, facing a door that blew chill winds in my face every time a customer entered or departed. There must have been 50 copies of Mayor on the table in front of me. And, seated self-consciously among rows and rows of empty folding chairs, were all of three people: my good friend Steven Kahn; Carol Guinasso, from the Peninsula Community Foundation; and a Borders customer who said she only sat down because she felt “sorry” for me.

Oh well!

Anyway, here’s the info on my reading this Thursday at the Redwood City Public Library:
